We then determine the blended learning mix to build-out that journey. Next, we structure and create the content that will make that journey come alive for participants. And finally, of course, we deliver. A good dose of creativity and inspiration goes into every step along the way.
Learning Journey Design
Our learning journeys visualize all the touch points and learning moments across an employee’s full learning experience, from start to finish. We design those journeys on a company level. And we design them on an individual level too — including a person's skill level.
Our starting point is always to define the desired business outcome, and the specific behavioral change(s) you want to see in participants. Knowing that, we can clarify learning objectives. This lets us fix the start and end points for your learning journey — and identify the main touch points along the way.
Once we've done that, it’s time for our learning specialists to define the right mix of methods, media and content at each touch point.
Blended Learning Design
When designing learning solutions for senior managers and leaders, we typically use the 70-20-10 continuous learning model to inform blended learning design choices. When designing solutions for employees-at-large, we typically use the 3-33 collaborative continual learning model from Dan Pontefract.
Neither of these models are ‘prescriptions’. There is no ‘one size fits all’. These are, however, useful tools to help make smarter decisions about blended learning design.
Regardless of which model we use, the outcome will be the same: a clearly defined mix of media and method that makes learning super effective in every learning moment.
70-20-10 Model: For Senior Managers and Leaders
The 70-20-10 model is a classic learning model parNcularly useful in designing senior management and leadership development programs. The main benefit of this approach is that it reinforces ‘learning by doing’, which works exceptionally well when the subject matter is challenging.

3-33 Pervasive Learning: For All Employees
The 3-33 Pervasive Learning model is useful in helping design all-employee L&D programs. It accelerates learning by complementing formal training materials with curated content for informal learning, and by facilitating social learning. A 3-33 approach to learning is particularly well-received by Millennials, and functions best when a company’s culture is open, collaborative communicative.
